Larry Jordan: Sitting next to me is Bram Desmet. He is the President and CEO of Flanders Scientific, and a welcome guest on The BuZZ. Bram, welcome back.

Bram Desmet: Thank you for having me again.

Larry Jordan: Give me a description. What is Flanders Scientific doing these days?

Bram Desmet: Yeah. So we are continuing our goal of making good professional reference monitors for broadcasters, production. We were expanding in the last few years into color management devices and doing that, but anything that has to do with, you know, viewing color-accurate images in a professional environment, that's our game.

Larry Jordan: Well, we're expanding into HDR, and have been for several years. HDR is definitely a moving target. Where do we stand now with being able to cost-effectively monitor an HDR signal?

Bram Desmet: Yeah. And that's something that we've been working with a lot of our industry partners to try to tackle. So there's a few different levels where we've done that. Some of the technology advancements and kind of ramping up in the number of products we can make. We've brought the cost down on some of our very high-end reference monitors. So a thousand nit, Dolby Vision qualified mastering monitors, still very expensive to make, but you know those have gone for like $45,000 to $35,000. So still expensive, but for people who have landed those big Dolby Vision projects, they can get into it.
